Alison Krauss [ ] has been tapped to join the Honorary Committee of the 7th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days, a global network of performances designed in a "Harmony for Humanity" theme, according to a press release.
Participation in World Music Days, to be held the entire calendar month of October, is made available to all types of musicians, who ar invited to register their upcoming October 2008 events online and then state a few words from the stage in support of tolerance and external understanding.

Additionally, a "Harmony for Humanity" e-stage--a 24/7 consecrate internet radio receiver station--will be broadcast global throughout the month and feature original compositions dedicated to the principles for which Pearl lived. The electronic radio receiver station will also feature music by the World Music Days Honorary Committee, past and present winners of the Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin, and Pearl's own music.
Other members of the honorary committee include Herbie Hancock [ ], R.E.M. [ ], Elton John [ ], Yo-Yo Ma [ ], Ravi Shankar [ ], Barbra Streisand [ ] and John Williams [ ], among others.
Journalist Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002. The Daniel Pearl Foundation seeks to counter the hatred and intolerance that took his life by developing innovational international programs focused on journalism, music, and respectful dialog, according to a statement.
Since 2002, more than 2000 concerts in 75 countries suffer participated in World Music Days to honor Pearl's passion for forging borderless friendships through music.
